Ačkoli se Internet v dnešní době těší hlavně obrovskému přílivu bloggerů (prostě každý chce mít svůj deníček 
), jsou nadále velmi populární diskuzní fóra. Pokud nějaké takové fórum máme zájem provozovat, tak se musíme rozhodnout, zda si vytvoříme vlastní (otázka několika měsíců usilovného programování + perfektních znalostí PHP) a nebo nainstalujeme některé z hotových řešení (otázka asi 15 minut)…
Není divu, že se většina lidí rozhodne pro instalaci hotového řešení. Zde se ovšem nabízí několik variant. První a nejpoužívanější je fórum phpBB. Obsahuje už v začátku spoustu funkcí a hlavně disponuje poměrně velkým množstvím doplňků. Už po jeho instalaci ovšem pravděpodobně nabudete pocitu, že fórum je jaksi nafouknuté, že je to jakýsi bumbrlíček. A máte pravdu, už výchozí (ne moc povedené) téma vzhledu je složeno takřka celé z obrázků a s ostatními tématy to není jinak. Navíc všude je plno přebytečného textu atp. Prostě nic moc přehledného. Samozřejmě, že je možná úprava, ale proč tím trávit cenné hodiny a dny, když existuje mnohem lepší řešení jménem PunBB.
Tato alternativa vás už od počátku upoutá svou velikostí. Archiv zip má totiž pouhých 250kb (tar.bz2 jen 120kb), zatímco phpBB má v archivu zip okolo 700kb. A jak je na tom punBB s funkcemi? Nutno říci, že velmi dobře. Chybí mu sice několik základních, které phpBB obsahuje, jako je například podpora soukromých zpráv nebo anket. Tyto doplňky ale není problém během několika málo chvil doinstalovat. Hlavní výhoda PunBB tkví ale v jeho kompaktnosti. Nikde nepřebývá navíc žádný obrázek, dokonce i ikonky příspěvků & nových příspěvků jsou dělány pomocí CSS. Základní téma je velmi jednoduché a přehledné. Zobrazení příspěvků je kompaktní a administrace taktéž. Nastavit si můžeme velmi podrobně práva skupin, hodnosti i podrobné schopnosti fóra. Skvěle je navíc, oproti phpBB, zpracován uživatelský profil. Je jednoduše setříděn v záložkách a lze v něm nastavit velké množství údajů. Samozřejmě nechybí ani tak základní věci jako jsou avatary a podpisy. Uchvátilo mě hlavně to, že Jabber je v nastavení profilu upřednostňován před ICQ …
Abych ale jenom nechválil. Fórum má samozřejmě i svá negativa. Absenci některých nezbytných funkcí jsem už zmínil, autoři s jejich omezením šli v některých případech až moc daleko. Dost mi například chyběla absence tlačítek pro vyvolání smajlíků a BBCode na stránce pro psaní příspěvku. I to je ovšem možné doplnit pluginem. Naopak potěší přítomnost formuláře pro rychlou odpověď. Za největší mínus ovšem nemůžou autoři, ale člověk, který fórum lokalizoval. Jeho čeština je příšerná, když pominu nevhodné tykání, tak zde v mnoha případech chybí například diakritika a také disponuje obrovským množstvím různých překlepů. I s tímto problémem jsem se ovšem vypořádal a češtinu jsem si upravil. Pokud o ni máte zájem, tak mi prosím napište do komentářů a já ji dodatečně do článku přiložím.
